Dr. Chinyere Christiana Okpala Chukwuka is an esteemed legal scholar and educator, currently serving as the Dean of the School of Law at Charisma University in Grace Bay, Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands. In her role, she played a pivotal role in developing and launching both Ph.D. and LL.B Degree programs at the university. Additionally, she holds the position of Chair of the Ethical Committee at Charisma University.
As a professor, Dr. Okpala Chukwuka teaches International Law courses and various management courses. Her responsibilities extend to setting up Ph.D. dissertation committees and supervising students’ dissertations. Beyond Charisma University, she is a visiting professor at Prince Songkla University in Thailand, where she imparts knowledge on Anti-Terrorism Law. Moreover, she serves as an adjunct professor at Golden Gate University (GGU) School of Law in San Francisco, California, USA, specializing in terrorism and Counter-terrorism Law.
Dr. Okpala Chukwuka’s educational journey includes earning an S.J.D. (Ph.D.) in International Legal Studies from GGU, an LL.M. in American Legal Jurisprudence with certification in International Law from Whittier Law School, and an LL.B. from Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Nigeria. Additionally, she holds a Higher National Diploma in Business Administration and Management.
Prior to her academic roles, Dr. Okpala Chukwuka served as an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Business Management at Eastern Polytechnic in Sierra Leone, where she lectured on core law courses. She is a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, having practiced with prominent law firms in the eastern part of Nigeria.
Her scholarly contributions include being a Rapporteur, moderator, and presenter at GGU’s Annual Fulbright International Legal Studies Symposium. She is also an Editorial Committee Member of the Law and Business Research Network (LBRN) Nigeria. Dr. Okpala Chukwuka has authored impactful works, including the book “A Re-Assessment of the effectiveness of OAU (AU) conventions on preventing and combating terrorism; Comparative and Foreign Law Digital Commons, Confronting Terrorism: Quo Vadis African Union?” published in 2015 by Vandeplas Publishing. Another of her books, titled “Counterterrorism and Human rights at a crossroad,” is in press, showcasing her commitment to advancing legal scholarship.
