Dr. Shelia L. Jackson, born in Memphis, TN in 1980, discovered her passion for caring and helping others, particularly the elderly, from an early age. Raised in Covington, TN, she graduated from Covington High School in 1998, setting the stage for her remarkable journey in healthcare.

In 2005, Shelia embarked on her educational path at Baptist College of Health Sciences in Memphis, TN. Graduating cum laude in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Radiation Therapy, she dedicated the initial years of her career as a compassionate radiation therapist, providing care to diagnosed patients and their families in a cancer facility.

Driven by an unwavering commitment to make a difference, Shelia decided to expand her expertise by pursuing nursing. In 2014, she attended Mississippi College in Clinton, MS, earning a cum laude Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Notably inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, she began her nursing career as a Neuro ICU nurse before transitioning to the ED nurse role at the VA hospital in Jackson, MS.

In 2016, Shelia sought further academic advancement, obtaining her Master of Science degree in Nursing with a focus on nursing and diabetes education. Graduating summa cum laude from Capella University in 2019, she honed her skills and knowledge in the field.

Undeterred in her pursuit of excellence, Shelia returned to school in 2020, earning her Doctorate of Nursing Practice/Psychiatric Mental Health Practitioner degree cum laude from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN in 2023. During this period, she, along with two colleagues, presented a notable publication, “Bi-Weekly Follow-Up of Adult Patients Diagnosed with Schizophrenia to Increase Treatment Adherence: A Scoping Review.”

Currently, Dr. Shelia L. Jackson is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). In addition to her role as a PMHNP, she remains dedicated to serving veterans and their families in the emergency department at the VA. Her commitment to education extends to her role as an instructor at Charisma University, where she shares her wealth of knowledge and experience with aspiring healthcare professionals. Driven by compassion and a relentless pursuit of excellence, Shelia continues to make a meaningful impact in the healthcare field.
